Virtualization

Virtualization saves money. Does that sound appealing? We thought it would so here's a couple things to think about. First, power savings can be phenominal. Second, you'll buy less hardware. Yes, you'll buy more expensive hardware but the number of boxes you'll have to buy is generally 90% less. Take this example: the average server runs at 10% utilization or less. Based on this fact, we can combine 10 servers into one physical VMware server. Imagine the savings to your electric (consumption and cooling) bill in your own office server room. Imagine the savings when you could go from two racks to a half rack in a datacenter. In addition, all this equates to less of an environmental impact including power usage (coal, gas or nuclear) and raw materials to make servers.
